Hi Again
Hi All:
As most of you already know, Sea Jays will host the National Short Course Championships this weekend Friday October 7th - Sunday October 9th.
Session 1: Friday 7th = Opening Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. / Meet begins at 6 p.m.

Session 2: Saturday 8th = Meet begins at 9 a.m. (7:30 a.m. Warm up)
Session 3: Sunday 9th = Meet begins at 10 a.m. (8:30 a.m. Warm up)
I have asked most SHARKS swimmers in the Jr. & Sr. Groups if they are planning to attend and I have received a response from most, however I need confirmation by no later than tomorrow evening, whether you or your swimmers will be available to participate.
I would like to remind all parents and swimmers that this swimmeet will determine the selection of the St. Lucia OECS Team, that will be hosted in Saint Lucia from November 4th - 6th.
Please respond as soon as possible as entries are due by tomorrow evening, NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted.

Hi Sharks
Hi SHARKS:
I would like to thank all the swimmers and parents who came to the Team Gathering at the Aquatic Centre last week Friday ;the kids had a great time playing games & swimming relays together and it truly is a great team bonding activity. Please listen out for the date of our next gathering, and I hope to see even more SHARKS swimmers & parents at the next one.
Of the topics discussed during a brief parents meeting, I would like to address the call for parent volunteers at the National Short Course Championships to be hosted by Sea Jays Swim Club this weekend at the Aquatic Centre. This a 3 day swim meet that will run from Friday, October 7th - Sunday, October 9th.
It would be great to have as many SHARKS swimmers as possible at the pool at 5:00 p.m. on Friday to take part in the opening ceremony (opening ceremony to commence at 5:30 p.m.) and also use it as an opportunity to take a team photo. Please wear your SHARKS tie die shirt or your grey shirt if you/ your swimmer plans on attending
We have been asked to provide 12 parents names to the Sea Jays Swim Club to help with timing and officiating (if qualified), for the weekend. This works out to 4 individuals per day and I would appreciate if we could fulfil this request. Having enough officials and timers will ensure a timely start to each session which will benefit the swimmers, (especially on Friday evening so they may leave the pool to get home to rest for a long weekend of swimming). Of course we will accept as many parents who wish to help out, but for now, please respond to this email an indicate when you will be available to help.
Session 1: Friday October 7th = Meet begins at 6 p.m. (must be available to help at 5:45 p.m.)
Session 2: Saturday October 8th = Begins at 9 a.m. (available at 8:45 a.m.)
Session 3: Sunday October 9th = Begins at 10 a.m. (available at 9:45 a.m.)
Please respond to this email, or speak with me or Coach Tom at the pool this week and let us know which date(s) or session(s) will work for you to help make this meet a success.
Thank you for your time and hope to see lots of SHARKS (swimmers & Parents) cheering in the stands this weekend.
Regards,
Coach Jamie

Lettre from Jamie
To All Sharks Parents:
This years OECS Meet has suddenly landed on our doorstep and we are preparing to accept the responsibility of running a successful OECS meet as a club (we will of course ask for all the clubs in our swimming community to assist); quite a responsibility, but certainly achievable.
I don't think I've taken the time to explain to any of you what a well run OECS Meet meant to me in my time as a young swimmer. Of course at those times I was oblivious to all the background effort it took to run a successful meet, but what I do know now, is the lasting friendships and motivation this meet was responsible for creating.
This is OUR championship meet, the OECS family, and this is the foundation that has and will build a road for our young Sharks & St. Lucian swimmers to recognize what a commitment to excellence and true sportsmanship can teach them. I am forever grateful for my experiences at the OECS level of swimming, and some of my best memories came from this meet, including very recent ones of many smiling faces from a great organized meet by Sea Jays swim club earlier this year.
I ask that each one of you in some capacity accept the challenge of offering a helping hand in whatever capacity you can and being a part of creating and moulding some very special memories for our young swimmers.
This is a 2 month project that will require an immediate response as we have to build our various committees and delegate the necessary tasks at hand to start bringing the 2011 OECS meet to life. Let's all make this happen together and prove to our children the potential of unity and team work.
Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear from each one of you by Thursday of this week (September 16th).
Kind Regards
Jamie Peterkin

Hi All:
We request the presence of ALL SHARKS Parents and Swimmers to join the SHARKS Coaches and Executive at The Rodney Heights Aquatic Center on Tuesday May 31st, 2011, at 4:30 p.m.
Our coaching staff is planning a FUN GAMES DAY in which all the swimmers will participate in Pool Games together, (I'm really looking forward to The Games) and we will also recognize some of our swimmers achievements over the past couple months.
We are also going to be having our SHARKS AGM (Annual General Meeting) and encourage all our parents to join us so we can discuss the present status of our club, how we plan to move forward, and of course elect a New Club Executive to serve from 2011-2012.
I hope to see you all in attendance to enjoy the excitement of watching your kids bond together as a team, meet some of the other parents, and take the chance to listen to our goals as a club and learn how you can help contribute to the growth of The SHARKS Swim Club.
Once again your presence is greatly appreciated.

SLASA Awards & OECS After-Party
Dear All:
We will host a combination OECS "After-Party" and SLASA Annual Awards Night on Saturday 5th February from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the St. Lucia Yacht Club on Reduit Beach. This will be a much less formal event than we have had on previous occasions, more of a celebration/Beach Party. We will start with the presentation of the swimmers awards, and coaches certificates from the FINA course, then move quickly into party mode. Some simple snacks will be provided, with soft drinks for the kids and a pay-bar for the adults. Bottled water will be available at no cost, other drinks can be purchased at the bar.
Be very pleased if you could spread the word, we would really like to see as many of the OECS swimmers as possible, as well as the athletes and parents who helped by volunteering their time to make the meet so successful.
There will be no formal invitations sent out this year, this is it!
Kind regards,
Joyce

Message from Tom
Hello everyone,
I hope and pray that the new year finds you refreshed and ready!
Just a reminder that swim training starts this Tuesday even though I know school doesn't start for many until Wednesday.
Please make sure to check out our website and blog for un to date information on our swim club.

Congratulations to all of our swimmers who swam in the swim meet. You all did great!
Just a couple of reminders...
-The next couple of months are chilly. Make sure ot send along a warm towel. The children might want to wear a swim shirt or t-shirt during practice to stay warm.
-Remember to pay your swim fees BEFORE the month begins.
-No refunds for sick days.
-If your child wants to take a break from swimming, let me know.
Just to give you an idea of our upcoming training, it is going to look like this.
LEVEL 1
We will be working on the basics to each stroke.
January - Breath Control
February - Balance
March - Sculling
April - Rhythm
May and June will focus on the three competitive strokes that we will be dealing with - freestyle, breast stroke and back stroke.
LEVEL 2
We will be covering the basics for the four competitive strokes in the next four months.
January - Freestyle or Breast stroke
February - Freestyle or Breast Stroke
March - Back stroke
April - Introduction to Fly
May and June will be reviewing the strokes and working on competitive aspects to each one.
Thanks everyone!
