News

Hi SHARKS:

We are very happy to say that September was a great start to the term and new swimming year. We had lots of swimmers move up from Learn to Swim to JR's and even a couple of our JR swimmers have stepped up and are swimming with the SR's a couple times a week.

SWIM FEES:
Now that September is almost done, anyone who has not paid their September Fees is asked to pay prior to the end of this week. Coach Jamie really needs a bike to get to practice so he doesn't ruin his brand new sneakers, so please support the "Keep Coach Jamie's Sneakers New Drive" and pay those monthly fees.

We are also less than one week away from October Practices, and October fees are now due. Please look for our President Mr. Bruce or our Treasurer Veron Taylor who will be at the pool throughout this week, or drop your payment in our Sharks Box on the floor in the Aquatic Centre office and remember to collect your receipt in the basket next to the entrance to the pool.

 SUNDAY FUNDAY @ THE BEACH:

We have a couple events planned for the month of October, but we would like to remind all our swimmers that we will be having a fun morning on the beach next week Sunday, September 29th. On the menu of activities is an AQUATHLON (800m Run -800m Swim-800m Run) and a 3K Open Water Race at Reduit Beach (The Ramp) at 8 am (Registration begins at 7:30 am in front of the Yacht Club) and anyone is welcomed to participate or just bring breakfast to the beach and cheer on your teammates and family & friends.

LAST DAY OF THE MONTH

We will also be having a special Combined Practice from 5-6 pm on Monday, September 30th and all swimmers are Welcome to Join. Stretches will begin at 4:30 pm, however all JR 's are still welcome to arrive early. (This means JR's & SR's will practice together and the SR's will be helping the JR's).

OCTOBER SWIMMEETS:
The Short Course National Championships (formally known as OECS Trials) hosted by SJ's Swim Club will commence on Friday Evening ,October 18th and conclude on SundayAfternoon, October 20th. We encourage as many of our swimmers capable of swimming 25m in at least 2 strokes for 8&under and at least 50m in 2 strokes for 9&overs, to participate in this meet, (your coaches will advise who is ready to swim at this meet) as we attempt to defend our Championship once again.

SLASA also uses this meet to select the OECS National Team, so we encourage all our JR & SR swimmers to come to practice each day ready to improve by bringing their P.A.W.S (Positive Attitude, Water and Smiles). We are also asking in advance for parents to volunteer their time over the weekend to help officiate during the meet. We have been asked to provide names in advance, so we will be coming around with sign up sheets during practice to ensure we help out as best as we can, (your commitment to help will contribute to a more professionally run swimmeet and we will be able to start on time which is very important for our swimmers who have a long weekend of swimming ahead of them).

Our 11+ swimmers will have something to look forward to at the end of the month, The Spooky Inter Secondary Schools Swimmeet will be taking place on Halloween Day (Thursday, October 31st).

 OCTOBER NEWSLETTER & UPDATES:
Our October newsletter will be coming out very soon, so please look out for the "Team Events" section that will have all upcoming club events including team activities, fundraisers and mini meets.

Looking forward to an exciting end to the month and a challenging and fun month of swimming & activities in October.

KAIZEN,
Sharks Coaching Team
