Newsletter Name
Hi All,
We are going to put a newsletter together to be published every few months, outlining what the club has been up to and will be up to.
We need a creative name for this, so far Jamie has suggested "Reef Talk" and "Shark Bait", we would welcome your thoughts and ideas, not just for the name but also content. Just talk, or e-mail, to Jamie and Tom, or any other member of the Executive, to let us know. You can also use the little "Skribit" box on the blog for this, or any other ideas you have.
All the best
Chris

Sharks T-Shirt Tie Die Saturday September 24th - I need sizes!
Hello all,
hopefully most of you ahve recieved our booklet of information for the year and a piece of paper to sign and give back to the coaches. If you didn't get one, talk to your child (who should have given it to you) or one of the coaches.
One of the things we are doing this year is getting ready for our swim meets by getting our t-shirs in order. This year, since we didn't do much fundraising last year, we are asking everyone to purchase a new Sharks t-shirt. We are going to order white t-shirts and tye die them red, orange and yellow in time for our first big swim meet in October.
The cost is 15.00 for club swimmers and 25.00 for everyone else.
On Satuday September 24th at 1:00 PM (time subject to change, but for now...) we are asking everyone to meet at my house Coach Tom, in Rodney Heights to tye die the shirts.
Here is what we need:
- Old clothes that can get stained!
- 5 gallon buckets
- Parents to accompany your children. No drop offs please.
- Responsible older swimmers to help coordinate.
- Bring a drink to pass
- Bring a snack to pass.
- Bring your 15 or 25 for the t-shirts
- Bring whatever other white clothing you want to tye die.
We will be providing the dye, rubber bands and the venue.
We will be ordering the shirts on Monday, so if you haven't gotten me your size, please do so.
If you are not able to attend, don't worry. you can either tye die the shirt on your own or we will tye die it for you.
Here is a list of swimmers of whose sizes I do not yet have.
- Valentina Burrow
- Eden Crick
- Jonas Landwehr
- Jonathan Bruce
- Aidan Kong
- Jammal Joseph
- Daniel Hippolyte
- Zoe Huggins
- Gabriella Chreiki
- Brandon Charles
- Nicholas Elzidi

Assistant Coaching Training
Hello all,
At our last AGM meeting, we voted to increase fees this year with one purpose in mind. We need to train more assistant coaches. Since there are no regular training programs on the island, and to ensure a competent coaching staff year after year, we have decided to run our own coaching training sessions.
We are asking for anyone interested to let us know. The training sessions will be free. The club will be picking up the fees.
The sessions will run once a month on a Saturday from 9:30 - 11:00 AM for in the water training. It will also run one Thursday night a month from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM for film and book training.
The training sessions are open to anyone 16 or older, swimmers or parents.
The intent of the training sessions will be to train our older swimmers or parents to help on the deck during training sessions and prepare our coaches to assist during swim meets. The Club offers assistant coaches $20.00 per training session.
The first training session is Saturday September 25th, at 9:30 AM.
Thanks,
Coach Tom

Short Axis Swim Meet
Hello all,
For all of you who didn't know about the swim meet tomorrow, don't worry. That means you are not swimming.
Tomorrow afternoon there is a short axis developmental swim meet. For those of you who are swimming, Coach Jamie has already contacted you. If anyone else wants to show up and cheer our team on, please do so. You can find more information at the St Lucia Amateur Swimming Association website, aptly named www.slasa.info.
BUT... Coach Jamie is setting up a booth to sell off swimming paraphernalia to raise funds for our coaching staff uniforms. We are asking that anyone who can, please drop off a baked item that can be sold to add to our booth on Sunday.
Thanks!
Coach Tom

Sharks Compete at Summer Splash 2010
Last weekend the Sharks competed at the annual Summer Splash at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre on August 26th-28th. For those who haven't been training over the summer, it was a good chance to get back into the season. For those who have been training, it was a great opportunity to set their time to beat for the upcoming year. We had many personal bests. In spite of four swimmers out due to illness or injury, four no show swimmers, and two of our top swimmers away at the Youth Olympic Games, we still pulled of a decisive second place finish. Nice job swimmers!
